To LOVE
To love .......... The power of God is most evident to me in HIS love for us, in His love for me.
Love is what breaks the chains that bind us.. love is what grows and sustains our hope. Love is what brings light to us and it is, in turn, the light that shines out of us.
WHEN we learn to love, with God's heart - - not manipulating people or loving only as a tool of self-service and self-gratification... then .. then .. maybe that is when we finally start to hear God the loudest.. Is that bringing heaven to earth? His kingdom come, HIS will be done?
From the time that we are newborns, we learn to cry out.. to give love as a means of survival and could it be possible that even then in the smallest and sweetest of states that we are learning to manipulate, learning to give to receive? Learning it's all about 'me'?
Could it be.. that we need to unlearn what is basically our fleshly instinct?
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Amplified Bible (AMP)
4Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.
5It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].
6It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.
7Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].
Let me encourage you today to ask the LORD to teach you how to love like HE does, in fact ask Him LORD LOVE thru me today!
The greatest gift that we can ever give is that we love unselfishly. That we put others needs before ourselves, our fleshly desires..
I know for me, it is an on-going lesson.
I've wanted to reach out and touch someone physically and the Lord told me "NO, you need to pray for them instead" ... At that moment, I was learning to put their welfare above my 'fleshly' desire to comfort them. THEY did not need the comfort as much as they needed the prayer - -
TEACH me LORD, how to really LOVE ... is my prayer today.
Thank you to all my friends that allow me to learn this lesson! Thank you for your grace and mercy as I learn to open up, be transparent .. and learn how to love!!
